Can't see the point, but if you want them just run on dipped headlights.

As an ex-biker (with the scars to prove it) I run with dipped headlamps all the time.

Don't even think about it as I just leave the switch in position and let the ignition key turn them on/off for me.

i used to run my scooby with the sidelights on as it kept my battery charged instead of being drained by the tracker

I know it's dangerous for bikers these days !!! and increasingly for the rest of us.

I just liked the look of the current batch of Audi's etc that run with these at the moment. They can be seen from alot further away than normal sides and from what I can see, don't run with the rear lights, until you turn your sides on of course.

And all cars made after 2011 must have them - so there must be a saftey aspect that has spurned this.

And as you say with running with sides, they too come on without thinking about it, when turned on or left on.

I know that some later scoobs chage their batts when under some load i.e. when trackers etc drain them.

smartcharge as i only drive my cars at weekend (cycle to work ) when i drove my scooby in winter it would struggle to start because of the tracker draining the battery but i read on here about putting sidelights on and it worked no problems at all, started first time without all the stupid alarms beeping
