Default HIB bulb direction

Maybe a question for BOB'5 but I thought I'd throw it out there....

I bought a HID replacement kit a year ago or so, and annoyingly one of the bulbs keeps dropping out (drivers side).

I think I've wedged it back in properly, but it lead me to 2 questions:

1 - Why does it keep dropping out?
2 - Can I put the bulbs in upside down, accidentally I mean, and therefore blind oncoming drivers?

1- spring clip distorted not holding bulb tight maybe?

2- i suppose the bulb could be forced in wrong but there are location tags/pegs on the bulbs so difficult to do in my opinion.

out of interest what bulbs have you got,i.e H4,H7?

You've got a H4 kit iirc:

"Before

After
"

The open side of the bulbs should be facing down. Make sure the bulbs locates correctly before pinning them with the clip. If you have them in the correct place and the clip is still not holding them in properly try and adjust the clip.

If ever in any doubt about the alignment, have it checked at your local MOT test station (for about the price of a pint).
