Default Anyone using a HID kit with morettes?

Am tempted by BOB5 offer on the new superslim HID group buy...
Has anyone got any feedback on any kit that is available, before i buy-ease of fitting, overall quality, effectiveness and value for money.
Would help, especially if you have a bugeye with morettes. Also, which of the kits are you buying?
Cheers in advance...
BOB5-hope you dont mind me asking the question. If you want me to leave your name out of thread,pm me and i'll re-edit asap

I've bought BOB'5, HID's and 'twas a piece of cake, plug & play really, also he's around if you need help/spares.

I've got two sets on my bug-eye, and I can see far enough to use it now !

An Autoexpress article & 'truth' in the same thread? ...surely some mistake?

if you know better this would be a good time to state it. I can fully understand bob negging me for it, b ut I dont really care to be honest, the fact is that these kits (even bob will admit) are not for road use in the uk, they are for "show" use only..

Have read the rights and wrongs of HID's on another thread.I think that much of the problem is mis aligned lights=a poor scatter.
Unless there is a strong argument against HID's,i will be purchasing some as i have 0 confidence with the lights at the mo.
Just wanted more feedback from people who have actually fitted them-hopefully to morrettes.

If indeed the Autoexpress article is correct & they aren't clearly legal then surely the BiB's would have been having a field day since 2006 ...they don't need much of an excuse as it is ...just look at the numerous threads on here where people have been pulled/fined for illegal tints/plates/exhausts

So how many have been pulled/fined on here? ...or indeed the whole of the web (well, UK based web)?

That's not to say they ARE legal either ...but it's a can of worms that plod seem to be keen to avoid.

On a side note, *any* exterior bulb not BS or E marked on your car is illegal ...might be worth checking that when buying your bulbs from Halfrauds

I dont buy bulbs from halfrauds.

maybe its just like the exhausts and window tints, its taking time for it to filter down to all the diffeent coppers, but when AA make films like that its not going to be long before they have a kit in every traffic and normal police car is it? all I am saying is buyer beware!! as some sellers are not making their customers aware of the potential legal problems they could be buying into...

The HID argument has been done to death, both here & in L&E ...But cutting to the chase I think most people agree that the Autoexpress piece is full of holes

All you need to know is that as long as your headlights conform to the RTA's 88 & 89 & your lights pass an MOT you're legal.

I dont think there's any doubt that people are passing MOT's with HID's, It's the conforming to the RTA's (E marking or BS marking) That's the grey area.

Getting back to the OP's original question ...dunno, I've got classic Morette's with HID's ...but I'm getting less scatter than the other half's RAV with OEM halogens!

you would need to be a bit thick to believe that youtube video. Got hids fitted and just had mot last week which it passed, after the test i asked the mot guy about hids and he said that so long as the colour is okay and beam pattern then they pass fine.

My better half is a cop and she says they do crack down on tinted windows as they are unsafe and sometimes exhausts if they are a nusiance - never hids for being hids.

BIG thumbs up from me. One of the best things i've done to my car. Got mine from the groupbuy section not 2 long ago.

Cheers for that.I'm posting this one on the group buy section now,but i wanted some varied feedback rather than jumping on BOB5 thread and having only people who have bought from him.

I have just Installed the slim Hid kit into my Classic Morettes, all looking good so far, but the Hi beam H2 (inner light) is not working as yet, i will have to trace the fault, but will be a good test for the HID's later without the added H2

There should be zero problem fitting HID's to any headlight NOT using an H4 bulb

Those that DO use the H4 fitting, however............well, the jury is still out.
Some say perfection, others have removed them.

All you can do is "suck it and see", (No, you don't REALLY put it in your mouth..........)

Well it HAS to be better than standard, with THAT much light output. It's just that if the OE light is crap because it scatters light everwhere, now you'll be scattering MORE light everywhere and maybe, just maybe, dazzling others?

But hey, what do I know?

Yes I have fitted Bobs HID's to my 2002 Bugeye with Morettes.
Both dip and main, takes about 1.5 hours to fit properly and then to my local garage to adjust. Had no probs with MOT useing 4000.

All I can say is surperb.

Shaun & Billyray 911
Make sure that you burn the bulbs in properly the first time you switch them on. I burnt mine in for 30 mins, with the engine running before I switch them on. Mine appear a little brighter than some of the other guy's but it could be down to the low mileage and garage stored.

DON'T TOUCH THE BULB'S (GLASS PART) WITH YOUR FINGERS.

BOB5 are better as the live feed is a fused/relayed line directly off the battery so all the original wireing is protected and only used as a switching curcuit.
You will be pleased.

Scooby hoo?,
Thanks for the heads up re burning in...
Take it as you have a dip and main set up,did you buy both an H7 and an H1(2x£89) kit or did you buy one kit ie an H7 and have some H1 bulbs included and then run it all from one kit.
Hope this makes sense and is probably a bone question, but i want to buy the right kit asap

I bought two kits
I went for dipped beam first and was so impressed I bought the main beam kit which I put into the main beam first then transfered them into my prodrive spotlights instead as the p/spots have a lot longer range, over 200 + mts.
I will be getting a further kit before next winter. Other mods are being prioritized at the moments.
You wont be disappointed.
