subaru sti blobeye model battery problem
I have got a subaru sti 2004 uk model had the car about 14 months and normaly i only go out in it about twice a week and occasionally the battery goes flat.
Started using the car more regulary and the other day went to start the car and the battery was flat. So jump started it and it was fine.
Now after using it every day ,it only just starts from cold after that its fine until the next day and again cold start only just starting.
Any ideas ? or is it just time for a new battery and if so sholud i get a higher amp one.
My other issue is i will replacing my head unit and adding a vibe sub box so i was thinking is a more powerful battery needed ie (optima yellow)
halfords guide for a subaru battery is 510 amps ah value 60 and Reserve capacity: 105
Also will a higher powered battery affect anything like the alternator?

i rang trackstar quoted £250 for a new tracker
i have same problem but mine was 03 sti, replaced several batterys to no aval!put it in to a garage to see what was using power, was told that tracker (rac trackstar 2) was to blame, apparently there was a fault with these trackers that were fitted when these cars was new??i dont no if info i was giving is official or unofficial???has any one else been told this??
i have now bought a jump start pack untill i get to the bottom of this, didnt buy a new battery as my old ones still going and i dont think its the cause of the problem.
The cars still starting which is the main thing so untill it dyes i will just carry my jumpstart pack
watch this space for updates

Are you running with the lights on in daytime? The alternator only charges if you have power being drawn when driving. I'm on my third battery, OEM fit, Bosch 6DA only 420CCA and now Optima Red Top which is 730CCA. Its the Cold Cranking Amps that need to be as high as possible to give you that extra current when you start the engine. I've got Tracker (not RAC one), Clifford alarm and my WRX had flat battery after a few days. I use a battery conditioner if not going to use for a week with the old Bosch battery, not used it since fitting the Optima. They ain't cheap but being stranded with a flat battery is a PITA.
