Default Dim lights are always on

I have a classic Impreza, and just noticed that when i turn on the ignition the lights go on automatically and unable to turn them off (tried teh switch o nthe steering column but no luck). However when I turn the ignition off, all lights go off.

Any suggestions? Maybe someone had a simialr problem, and tell me what I could look for.

As above... when I bought my bugeye, I asked the dealer why the lights were constantly on... took him a good 15minutes to work out that they were the parking lights.

He said he tried that switch and its not that problem, otherwise they would stay on when the engine was turned off.
Has it recntly happened, or has it always been like that?
Maybe the lights are connected to an igntion live, is your car a European model or Jap import?

I think your lights are staying on because you have your light switch in the on position (on the indicator stalk). If the switch is left on, the lights come on with the ignition, and turn off when you switch off the car... if you want the parking lights to stay on, you need to use the switch on top of the steering column (see photos from the post above).

Fixed this long time ago. I'm ashamed to say it but the problem was that the foglight switch was on, I didn't realize straight away because the eld of the switch needs to be repalced, so I didn't notice it was on.
