Default can't re-set ECU

what a bloody head ache! trying to clear a knock code, here's what i'm doing:

connected green-green, back black under stearing column.

turn ignition on but don't start. LEDs come on, fans spin up etc.

full throttle, half throttle held for couple secs, release and sart engine. Breif period(few seconds) of no CEL at all, then comes on pulsing knock code.
drive sensibly, below 3000rpm... and keep driving... and driving 15min+
still flashing code 22

car is '97 JDM WRX wagon. 3/4 full tank of V-power+a little slosh of booster.
I can feel boost is on a low wick and timing is retarded as expected for knock warning.

couple times yesterday and today with no luck. How acccurate do i have to be at finding half throttle?????

cheers for any help... i just want to go for a thraaaaaaash

I had the same last year. Changed the knock sensor was the only answer. I could never reset the ecu with the plugs with any consistency either so I disconnect the battery for a couple of hours (overnight).

Why ignore what the ecu is telling you is wrong?

Fix the fault.

yeah i will do the same as you i think Pat, cheers mate

Dynamix, yeah mate i am treating the knock report seriously, just i can't tell if what i'm doing is working if i can never get rid of it! Its on retarded timing, low boost and i just put a load of V-power+octane booster and has not been above 3000rpm, so i don't think iot is knocking now... just need a chance to find out. i highly doubt it is knocking within 10 seconds of start up, at tick over, under those conditions with the automatic chocke running too...

will change MAF sensor and knock sensor most likely.
cheers guys
