i've got morettes on my bugeye and i have to agree, the light from the dipped headlamps is very faint. i know its nothing to do with the lamp itself, because one of mine was broken by a large stone so i got it placed only a few hundred miles ago and it made no improvement over the originals.

haven't tried other superbright bulbs or anything like that tho.....

I put uprated bulbs in my bugeye morrettes which improved things quite a bit for not a lot of cash or hassle.

H7 in headlamp
H1 in main beam

I put in Osram +50%. You can get +90% now. Have a look here.

Osram Night Breakers + 90% Xenon Upgrade Bulbs :: Autobulbs Direct Ltd - Xenon bulbs, car bulbs, wiper blades, headlight, Osram, Ring, Philips

Or I believe Halfords do uprated bulbs on special offer (buy one get one free or something), which are also supposed to be pretty good.

i have hids in mine lads. not the group buy ones so dont know bout them. there is a great improvement but it just seems like it needs to be adjusted slightly higher to be perfect(not sure how to do)
my advice is go with hids, get led brill white sidelights(remember when ordering these that there not standard impreza fit but bayonet fit). if feeling like it get the uprated hid full beam and blind everyone
anything else you need just ask
