Default Front fogs wont work?

I have a my01 STI type ra bugeye.Purchased some subaru fogs and a switch and plugged them in. With engine running press front fog switch on and it turns on side lights rear lights and dash light, but no front fogs, turn on main beam nothing and full beam still nothing.Tested the fog lamp plugs no power to them. Anyone help?

It should work as follows. Normal lights off - press the front fog switch, nothing will happen. Normal lights on side - press the front fog switch once the fog lights come on, no change to any other lights, press it again and the fogs go off. Can't recall if they work with side and dip only or side, dip and main.

I think you're saying that with the normal lights off you press the fog light switch and the normal lights come on. This is not right.

There's also a relay required which may not be fitted as standard (although the switch wiring is). Down beside the fuse box on the left hand side there's a vertical bank of six relay sockets and four fuses. One of these is for the front fogs. According to the .pdf wiring diagram I've got it's the third one from the end with the fuses, forget if that's top or bottom. If you'd like the wiring diagram drop me an email address by PM.

They are micro relays, about an inch long and half inch wide not the normal inch square ones. Like these, half way down the page.

You say the relays working? You mean you can hear / feel a click as it pulls in when you press the fog light switch?

If so and you're still not getting 12V to the fog light bulbs then there are only two possibilities, the fuse supplying power to the switch side of the relay, f/b fuse no. 7 according to the diagram, is blown or there's a break in the wiring or (OK three) the relays not switching properly.

1. Put the side lights on, take the relay out and use a multimeter into terminal 20 on the relay board to check there's 12V to the relay - if so fuse 7 is OK.

2. Put the sidelights on and use a short piece of wire to bridge between terminals 19 and 20 on the relay. Do the fog lights come on now? If they do then the relays faulty (or it wasn't clicking in when you thought it was). If they don't then there's a faulty connection between the relay board and the fog light bulbs.

3. Put the meter across terminals 21 and 23 on the relay board. Do you see 12V when you press the foglight switch (with the side lights on). If you don't then there's a problem before or after the fog light switch.
