Default Blobeye: HID kit or Morette's?

Hi,

I am looking to de-tango my headlights very soon however I wanted to see what options there were for upgrading/changing them.

I want to keep the car as stock as possible (I like sleeper motor's) so am thinking about investing in one of the HID kit's doing the rounds but wanted to know from others as to how they found them (fitting, general use etc).

Also had a look at Morette's with matt black surround, never been keen on them but saw a picture of a WR Blue blobeye with a pair on and they looked quite nice. Do they come with HID lights or is it quite easy to replace the stock items with a HID kit?

Thanks in advance,

Fz

Morrettes look utterly hideous on any car id definately go for the HID kit for the blobeye infact im thinking of doing the very same mod to mine now i have done the black headlight mod i think HIDs would finish the look off a treat

Got the Morettes on my Blob, straight forward to change from stock ones done mine in less than a hour. As for the lamps pretty sure they're not HID's but could be wrong. As you can see I left mine black, but have toyed with getting them colour coded.

I have the HIDs on MY03 STi, doddle to fit and the kit I got was from scoobyparts. The difference is unbelievable. Not the cheapest but the kit is good quality, I think it cost me £160 or there abouts.

Yeah thats the shot, the morettes with black base look really nice on the blobeyes, seen them colour coded and tbh, they look nasty.

My only grip with the morettes is the layout of the design, if they had gone for a similar look to the bugeye prodrive lights I think they would look spot on.

I will probably go for the de-tango with black backing for now, then HID and maybe toy the idea of morettes.

Had mine done a couple of months back. Colour coded to the car:

I don't think they look nasty But each to their own I suppose.

I would also like to de-tango the headlights on my 53 plate UK Sti - hate the orange part in the headlight! They are wrong

whats this about getting the HID kit and getting the surrounds black? Can these be bought or is it a 'self' mod?

The black headlight mod is a DIY job involving an oven, plastic primer and a tin of satin black aerosol

Ha ha, ok i tried doing something similar with my Supra TT and it got a bit messy to be honest! Dont want to tinker with the lights myself!

Can the 'tango' be taken out of the exisitng UK headlight or would i have to buy a new set of JDM market ones cause i think they're totally clear?

you can only take the yellow plastic lense out of the UK lights by splitting them which involves the oven trick only way round it is to either get someone to do the mod for you or buy a set of JDM lights
