anyone know what wires i need to connect to the defi control unit? colour codes would be good

i.e
defi red power to...... etc etc

There are 4 wires: Red, Orange, White and Black.

Red is to be attached to a PERMANENT live. You can take one straight from battery +ve, preferably via a fuse situated near the battery, or branch off a live wire behind the Hazard warning lights switch.

Orange is for a switched live, take it from the headunit feed, so as it's live only when ignition is "on".

White is for illumination. Take it from any switch with lighting, or the headlight/sidelight feed AFTER the switch.

Black is for ground. Take it to a suitable earth point or back to battery -ve.

Just reviving this a bit..

Does it matter if the orange/switched live is via ign I (accessory) or main ign II (ie dash lights on)..?

I've wired mine up on the accessory (ign I) and they sweep and bleep twice, once when the ign is switched on and again (say if you pause for fuel pump to prime) when engine is started..!

If I just turn key from off straight to engine start they only sweep once.

Is this normal or should I have wired the orange to an ign II supply..?

I think this makes sense, lol..!

 

Just read from the Defi site they sweep first with ign on then calibrate, sweeping and flashing leds again on start up. So all seems well..

 

That's right, it's what mine do too.
