Default Speedo wiring help

Hi everyone. Can anyone help me to find speedo wiring for '98 classic? Its electronic speedo with connectors on back of clocks and I want to fit '99 facelift dials with green connectors on top. I have wiring diagram of those '99 dials but cant find those earlier. Or maybe someone knows how to change plugs in loom?
I've got old dials loom:

and new dials loom:

but main plugs seems to be different. So if anyone got any ideas how to modify them I will thank you from the bottom of my heart Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers, Cypek

Hi Cypek,

Ive got pin outs for a 98sti speedo but not a 98uk version. Is it not possible to trace the copper ribbon on the back of the new speedo identifying each section & swap the wires accordingly.

I remember reading (google for hours) that the 99 uses a 3 wire type speedo sensor so that may cause you problems as the 98 is 2 wire type. This was prior to my dash conversion.

Is it a sti 99 speedo clock or uk version & why so you want to use a 99 speedo instead of a 98.

I've just bought speedo from '99 UK turbo as I own '98 Impreza Sport and I wanted to have white dials, other thing is my speedo needles are sticking (previous owner was messing with it) and when I smack it from top it starts working again. Now I have speedo but cant connect it and I dont want to buy another one. My friend is qualified electrician and he can help me reconnect wires I just cant find wiring diagram this older electronic speedo (newer one is here: Impreza Manuals )OK If anyone knows if its possible or how to do it please let me know.
Cheers, Cypek

Chris Palmer's Home Page

There is a 97-98 pdf you can download.

Thanks for the link as well. I use to have the same link but under a different web address which does not work. I can now download the rest off the stuff I need before that goes too.

Like I said before double check the wires via the ribbon circuit at the back.
Using you old clock as a guide.

Thanks for this link. I downloaded wiring diagram but it looks different than mine In my clocks there are 3 plugs at the back and in this diagram there are only 2 plugs I'm getting more and more confused now
Thats my speedo with plugs:

Thats newer type with plugs on top:

On this wiring it seems there are 2 large plugs on each side and small plug in the middle. Don't know what to think

Just note this is for a 98sti speedo.
I know its not excatly what you want but at least some of the wire colour codes should match.

The original thread is on RS25.com, you will need to register & search via that forum for 98sti speedo conversion. The rs version speedo is similar to the uk. I just kept notes on the jdm.
