My 1996 Legacy GT wagon has (until yesterday) central locking activated by drivers door lock.

Locking the drivers door activates the locks on all doors but now UNLOCKING the drivers door no longer UNLOCKS all doors.

Can someone tell me what component has failed and how difficult it might be for an average handyman to replace it??
