Default rear widow element

Only 2 of the bars on the rear screen element work on my classic, i've found the repair stuff in halfords for it. How can i test where the breaks are in the lines? Is it as simple as testing the resistance with a multimeter if i cant see the break?

You can normally see the brake to be honest, but yes you can run a multimeter along them (starting at the two outer edges and work one along to meet it) individually either on the resistance setting or possibly on a 12volt setting with the element turned on. You should be able to narrow it down.

A little tip might be to mask the area up with some tape before putting the paint on as they can get a bit blobby and ugly if you are a bit shaky. Dont forget to let it dry before removing the tape and do it with the power off to the window

Want to buy a new screen?

I have one out of my classic, taken out professionally when I had a rear wash wipe one fitted.

Well a new one is £460, so I'd take £100. You'd have to collect it too, or I could meet you at say, Hartshead moor services?
