electrical quickie

Joining two wires (small) together. I normally twist them together and run solder across them.

In order to insulate them, can i put on a blob of hot glue..?

In theory, yes, but it's a lot more clarting about to ensure it's properly done, than buying some heatshrink tubing, sliding it on and warming it.
