Default lighting wire limits

I have just replaced my fog lights with driving lights and have used the original fog lights wiring, what i want to know what is the maximum bulb size i can use on this wiring, they have 55w in at the moment (same as fogs) but can the wiring handle a bigger bulb?

...Maybe....

But for the small amount of cost & effort, I'd use larger wire & a relay or two and feel happy that it was safe!

I would say, that if you're sticking with 55's then it'll be fine, but, unless you've messed with the way they're wired up, then technically they're illegal anyway, fog's are allowed to be on on low beam, driving lights are not, they should only be 'on' on full beam...... therefore a relay or two is needed anyway, so why not bypass the original wiring and get bigger bulbs aswell....

Agree with the above post. It must be a PITA to have to keep reaching for the foglight switch every time you need to dip, isn't it?

Get a relay fitted, with decent wiring, and go for 100W bulbs, or even 130W.
Get TWO relays, and be able to switch them INTO the mainbeam circuit, using the OE foglight switch, or have them off whatever.

Ah, OK..........You could TRY 100W bulbs, but check the foglight fuse rating first, you need a 20A fuse in for 2x100W
