Greddy gauges - bulb replacement
The backlight on both my 52 mm Greddy gauges (boost, oil temp) is broken. Do I actually have to dismantle the gauges to replace the bulbs?! What type of bulbs do they use?
On the back of the gauge there should be two round rubber plugs - these are the bulb covers, lever them out and you'll see a little plastic holder that holds the bulb with a screwdriver slot in the bottom - give this a turn and the bulb and holder will come out.
DONT go to Greddy to get bulbs - they quoted me £6 each for mine !!! you can get bulbs that fit from Maplins for about 30p each - they need to be the sort that have wire terminals like an LED - look at the existing bulb holders and you'll see how the wires twist around the holder to hold the bulb onto it and make contact with the circuit board you can see where you removed the bulb.
Twist the wires on the new bulb in the same way and screw it back in and you're done.

No problem, they do look like the blue mini pots you get, but are just bulb holders.
I cant remember the reference number for the Maplins parts, but there are a few they sell that should fit - the ones I used had a slightly smaller bulb head, but light up the gauges fine and didnt cost the stupid prices Greddy ask.
