Default New scooby owner - speedo problem

Hi guys..

New to this forum.. so please be gentile.

I've just purchased an import wrx ('96) after selling my Audi S3 and all i can say it what a difference! Better handling, grip and of course the crazy acceleration.

The previous owner changed the whole dash to a late 98 spec with Mph clocks and he told me that the speedo counter bounces when on idle, but is fine when you accelerate. The rev counter does the same. The electronic display which houses the mileage flashes on and off.

He reckons a cable out the back has popped out and is catching something? Not being mechanically minded i don't know if it's true?

Does anyone have any idea's? I was thinking of taking it to a scooby dealer and getting them to check it out.... good or bad move.. ?

Any help much appreciated.

Hi i can picture the wiring behind the dash i have seen what has to be done to to put a later dash into an earlyer classic subaru its not prity! defo take it to a local auto electrician to have it fixed they might charge more an hour than a garage but they will pin point the problem alot quicker
