Default Better lighting?!

Hi Guys,

I am running a 2003 forester xt and I work early morning early evenings driving an hour to work.

What is the best options on value for money to uprate the lighting?

I have looked at PIAA bulbs, spots, 80/100 halogen bulb replacements and HID kits - some advice would greatly be appreciated - cheers!

Question

Read anything else on this forum before posting? There's an ongoing debate about bulbs and another about HID. They COULD help.

Cheers Alcazar I did indeed check them up and know there is a big debate about bulbs - does that mean it is better just to uprate the bulbs, or what about putting on some spots or going HID?

You need to read my post on HID kits too, especially if your car is a classic. If it's not, you're in a better position...........

Most people here are probably less familiar with Forester lights than Impreza lights. So starting off telling us what lights you have as standard would be a good start.

For example are they separate reflectors with separate bulbs for dip and main or just one big light with a dual filament H4 bulb? Any foglights?

Also is your early morning drive thro town on dip beam or along some twisties on main beam?

Chelspeed, to behonest I do not know if they are seperate bulbs or not so will check them out. I am not a mechanic I have had all mods done by friends or by the local garage and mechanic.

My early morning drives are 40 miles along some twisties and long empty straight roads where I often take the road 100 mph plus often 110-120mph, so you may see my need for more light!!! Thanks big time for your help will check out the car cheers mate

If you are not already running uprated bulbs, start there. For H4 bulbs, GE (General Electric) +60%, Osram or Philips +50%. After that you may want to consider a set of PIAA 120W spots or driving lights if you can mount them satisfactorily.
