Smoking dashboard...
Got in the car last night - started it up like normal, switched the head lights on, and smelt a burning smell in the car. Then I noticed smoke coming through the vents at the front of the windscreen.
Quickly turned the engine off and jumped out of the car in panic - didn't know what to do (call the fire brigade/RAC or have a go putting the fire out myself if one started).
After about 10 mins, nothing more seemed to happen, so I got back in and started it up. Everything went OK, but my head lights wouldn't work - the sidelights and full beam (only when holding the stalk in the flash position) were OK.
Managed to drive the 5 miles or so home (hoping that I wouldn't bump into any police on the way)...
Checked the fuses this morning and none have blown.
I've got a clifford alarm fitted (with the remote headlight option) - tested that this morning and that still works (so I know that the bulbs still work, etc.)
The lights though won't turn on when switched on inside the car - anyone got any ideas?
(The car is a '53 STi Type UK)

Update on this for those that might be interested...
After a couple of visits to the local dealer, the problem has been fixed
It was a blown indicator/lights switch - they had to replace the whole stalk.
I can use the thing at night again now
