On my MY95 WRX, the aerial has worked fine since I have had the car (about 6 months).

The other day I noticed this annoying noise coming from the aerial, whether it was down or up. It was still going up and down with no problems as always. A repetitive motor sound every few seconds, not sure what it was - maybe the motor on its way out, and trying to lower/raise the aerial even though it was actually going up or down fine?

This happened for a few days last week and since Friday has disappeared.

Basically, anyone know what it could possibly be as I'm sure it will return?

Also, I have tried searching for help with this and did discover that the standard Subaru part is expensive. Could I use a generic electric aerial, and if so perhaps somebody could recommend one - or are they all the same?
