Just picked up a new P1 tonight, but unable to switch on the front fogs. Is it the second switch in from drivers door next to rear fog light switch? If so, the fogs dont seem to b working, unless its something im not doing!

Nice front end isn't it??

I got one too

I think you'll find your problem is that the P1 doesn't actually have fogs as standard, it has Driving Lights, which come on automatically as you put your main beam on (or flash).

Shame on your dealer for not showing you all the controls

Enjoy

I have tried the switch with the full beam on but nothing happened. They just dont seem to come on whatever setting i use. I had a wrx before my last sti and that had a manual switch like the P1, I was just wondering if theres something I have missed.
Yeah the front end is cool!
(and the back, the sides, the gold wheels........................!)

Err...

AFAIK the driving lights don't have a separate switch, but I may be wrong.

Have you tried turning lights on & getting out the car & looking from the front - stupid question I know but...

so, on your P1 the front driving lights come on when u have main beam. You have no switch to either put them on or off manually like in other imprezas?
Whats that button next to rear fog switch then. I have tried getting out and looking. The trouble is, the dealer is 700 miles away in scotland and i picked up the car from the managing director of the dealership chain who lives down the road from me. He only had the car for 3 days so wasnt up to speed on all the ***** and dials!

Again err...

I have a MY99 5dr which to which I have added the P1 lip spoiler & the Gas Discharge spot light option from the P1 & so I only look like a green P1 wagon

I also previously had the SS Cibies with the additional relay, which utilises the fog light switch to turn on & off the ability to sear eyeballs with 130W spots

However, I am pretty sure that the P1s do not come with this o/ride switch as in order to obtain my spots, I swapped my fogs with a P1 owner & he had to arrange for adjustments in switching in order that his [new] fogs worked...

As I said, turn on full beam & get out & squint at the front...

Does the yellow light come on on the spot light switch when you put your high beam on?

Also check that the 15A fuse No 7 located behind the coin box (below the fog light switch) hasn't blown.

Hope otherwise you enjoy your P1

Cheers,

Rob

Right, now I've has a proper look! The front spots do come on, when main lamps are at full beam, not like other imprezas I've had where the spots come on via a manual switch when main beam is activated. I'll have to see about getting the spots to come on under main beam.
Had a result this morning when I got a rebate from insurance company, yes a rebate on a P1! Shows how much imports are loaded when this car is worth 15k more than the last one.
How important is the first service,1,000 miles, where the warranty is concerned? Am planning to go away for weekend and will be a couple of hundred miles over the service mileage at least.
Thanks a lot guys for your help!!!!

It is important that this service is carried out.
However, if you go a couple of hundred miles over this shouldn't affect you warranty.
Best thing to do is get it booked it with a dealer now.
The first service should only cost you about £35.00 as the labour is free on the first service.

Cheers,

Rob

The reason the DRIVING LIGHTS do not come on other than with main high beam is that it is illegal to use them in any other way. You will be dazzling any on coming driver when you go onto dipped beam.

As you have discovered the switch on the dash just enables/disables their action when high beam is selected.
