I thought I was going blind, coming home the othernight from the sauna, have you noticed the headlamps on Scoobies are sh*t, sometimes I was not sure if they were on or off...so today I darted off to Scoobiesport an bought some Power white bulbs 100/80w just waiting for darkness to fall to try them out, has anyone else changed theirs over?

I changed mine for the superwhites 60/55s (or whatever the rating is ). Wanted to keep it 'road legal' for the moment

Does make hell of a difference. If you have a search for headlight or bulb, you will find many a thread covering this very topic.

Wink

I've swapped to some Bosch blue tinted bulbs from Halfords recently.

They weren't too expensive and give off a very bright/white light, with that trendy blue tint.

I've tried lots of different bulbs over the last year, but these are far the best.

I also adjusted the headlamps upward at the same time, which makes a big difference and extends their range.

You might want to try this if you want to make your bulbs last longer

Cool

g-man
i have the same probs mate, they are ****!!
i've got scoobysport bulbs, iv tried a few different ones, but they all seem much of a muchness.
the best advice ive had from other folks on the bbs is to wipe the headlights every day. sounds basic, but removing that thin layer of dust/grime really makes a difference. i also took my headlight protectors off. in the wet weather they were growing bloody moss behind em!
i'd rather run the risk of a cracked headlight than make these poor quality headlights work any less better.

Thumbs up

I tried the PIAA replacements originally and they were an improvement but not good value for money - they failed within hours of each other after a few months. I'm now running Scoobysport Powerwhites - just as bright + half the price = no-brainer!

Get yourself down to your local dealer - they should be able to provide pre-cut Armourfend for the headlamps (and the foglights). Should cost you about £30 for the headlamps (and a similar amount for the fogs). This will protect your headlamps, looks better than the plastic covers and doesn't cut down on the amount of light (I've found quite a big difference in the quality of the light produced when running with and without the original plastic light protectors).

If your dealer can't help, speak to Jim Childs at Cheam Motors 020 8394 2263.

I fitted some 100/80w bulbs at the weekend. What a difference! Halfords twin pack - £7.95!!! And as has been said above, a quick wipe over every day at this time of year can make a huge difference.

Huxley, your web link looks very interesting. It improves bulb life, yes? And has some kind of extra security facility? Does it also prevent the possibility of over-loaded wiring using 100w bulbs?

Please elaborate M8. Thanks
