Defi control unit wiring
#2
RRB,
If you're going to use the clock plug / circuit to power the control unit then 3 of the wires are OK from there (+12V permanent, +12V switched - accessory and 0V earth).
These are indicated on the back of the clock unit for guidance
The illumination feed as to come from either the stereo or some other point that's live (+12V) when the lights are on.
An easy way to find these is with a voltmeter: (the colours in brackets are the wires on the back of the clock)
Permanent live +12V = as it say on the tin (blue with red stripe)
switched +12V = only live when key turned to 1st position (accessories) (yellow with green stripe)
Earth = 0V (black)
Illumination +12V = only live when key turned on and lights turned on (orange wire on stereo or take from bezel lighting connection on cig lighter)
