Fog Lamp Conversion
Hi folks,
This question has probably been posed a thousand times before but here goes!
I currently run with Prodrive WR Sport headlight conversion with Philips Vision+ H7's (I think!). I am thinking about upgrading the fogs (which I never use) to driving lights to give the main beam a bit more umph.
Anyone got any solutions that don't cost an arm and a leg?
Cheers,
Nige

Well, ........all solutions cost at least an arm, but if you want to pay a leg too, you get the ultimate
:
Seriously:
Ultimate: Scoobysport HID set, (sit down when sourcing price to avoid nasty accidents!!)
BUT: VERY easy to fit, align etc., EXCELLENT light output, (equivalent to 300w Halogen), clear covers available for safety of lenses etc.
Others:
Scoobysport Cibies , good light, (Cibies after all!), not quite as easy to fit, clear covers available, CAN suffer bulb probs with high power bulbs as they use H2's.
Prodrive PIAA: from dealers, Graham Goode etc. Good light output, easy to fit, no clear covers available.
Prodrive Hella 1000FF halogen. Good light output, clear covers available, (they use the same units as the Scoobysport HID's), CAN be a a pain to set up, and CAN suffer from vibration at speed.
As in all, it's "you pays your money.........."
Guess which ones I went for though, (Just about paid 'em off now, but WOW!!!!!

Thanks, Alcazar!
Just looked at the HIDs and the Hellas.....Jesus H Christ you weren't wrong about sitting down!! God help your flexible friend!!!
The PIAAs were POA at GGR so I guess they aren't too much different to the HIDs?
The Cibies look favourite....when you say they aren't so easy to fit do you mean I'll have to cut the car around?

No, no cutting, but they have an extra bit that bolts on from underneath IIRC.
With the HID's it's a case of off with the fogs, on to the same fixing holes with the new.
I don't think the PIAA's are that dear TBH, I think it may be a supply problem.
Try a friendly Scoob dealer for a price too.

Welcome Stubbsie -
When you refer to an upgrade - what are you hoping to upgrade - I don't think there is much point in upgrading the fogs, as they work OK as fogs - If you're after converting them to driving lamps, then you need to change the reflectors, to give more forward looking beams - so an upgrade to the lamps is necessary (sorry)
However, if you're after upgrading the headlamps, get a set of phillips vision plus H4 bulbs, easy to fit, 20 quid a pair and they'll give about 20% more distance to the light, whiter light and remain TOTALLY legal....
You can upgrade the light further (HIDS for example) but expect 400 quid+.....
Hope this helps

Nige - There seems to be a bit of a supply problem with the Scoobysport Cibies too - I ordered a set (plus clear covers) at the beginning of November. Still haven't had them.
It's best to give them a ring and ask for a realistic delivery date.
