Wiring problem?

Any guesses on this one folks?
A friends recently repaired MY 2002 STI has an odd problem.
The cabin light flashes constantly when in the door triggered position. Engine/Ignition on/off has no effect. If the battery is connected and the ancillary fuse is in it will flash. It just keeps on blinking. Coincidental with this is an extremely annoying beep, beep from the door lock control ECU. It is similar but different to the key in ignition reminder noise. This seems to intermittently interfere with the operation of the keyless entry feature. When the remote will trigger the locks they immediately reopen.
The engine control ECU reports no trouble codes and the car performs “normally” otherwise.
Everyone we talk to seems stumped on this one.

Brun,
Thanks for your thoughts. We are going to check the grounding again. Someone had also suggested that the stock STi also has an immobilizer system incorporated. Is this true?

I think you have got the keyless entry memory plug connected. This is what is used to program new remote entry keys to the computer. you will find the connector if you remove the drivers door sill trim. Look into the corner of the footwell. The memory connector is a single wire plug/socket. Connect to program, disconnect to put in operation. When connected there is a beeping and each press of the remote button causes a lock/unlock to acknoledge receipt of the signal. You press the lock butoon and open button twice each, then disconnect the memory connector. Hope this helps!

Hi Scoobyman,
Though I have not yet had an opportunity to check out your suggestion I am sure that you have hit the nail on the head. I will post again when we get this straight.
Thanks for taking the time to help all. Great catch scoobyman!
