Side lights - do you mean side lights as in the things at the front of the car (side lights) or the side indicator lights?

Side lights have a screw in them under the bonnet, then come out gently.

Side indicator lights just sort of pull out

Take the screw out on top of the headlight and then very carfully put the lamp forward. There is a ball and socket type fixing behind the lamp, it's usually a real pain but can be done with care.

Do not twist the lamp sideways or you risk breaking the ball off!!!

Hope this helps, good luck

And if you do break the stupid ball off, it can be repaired with superglue, backed up with Araldite. I know, I went there:

Changed my bulbs at the weekend , and I can confirm they are a bit of a pain to get off !

Just remember the screw , and slide them out towards the front of the car gently !
