Hi,

Found out while washing the Scooby that both my PIAA glass driving light lenses are cracked, one very badly. So need to replace them and fit protective covers. They just re-surfaced a main road in my area and I must have taken a hit from a couple of loose stones.

Scooby dealer say they are £68 each can anyone help me out in finding any place that may do them cheaper.

Then protection!

The Scooby net shop sells the Cibie driving light kit clear stone guards for £28.20

But I need stone guards for my PIAA’s can anyone tell me where and how much a set costs.

cheers,

AFAIK there aren't any that are made to fit the PIAA's. You may be able to cover them with the Subaru ones made for their foglights, but I wouldn't swear to that. Your dealer or IM might know, as they sell the PIAA's.
Alternatively, give Prodrive a ring, as they make the kits, I think.

Stully,

Bad luck m8. You can get the replacements for £50 from David Reid Motorsport; in fact I just picked one up from David last week.

Unfortunately, this is about as cheap as you'll get them. You can't just buy the lens; you need to buy the lens and the reflector as a kit - hence why it's so expensive.

A cynic would say that's why PIAA don't have protectors, coz they make too much money selling replacement kits

I've been told that the OEM fog covers do fit the PIAA's, but they need to be rotated to fit properly. I'll try and dig out a pic with the fitted.

Stully,

If you mail me, I'll send you some fitting instructions someone some sent to me ages ago. It shows you how to fit the OE clear fog covers over the PIAA's.

the driving lights fitted to the RB5 as standard are PIAAs, complete with protective covers. I would imagine a Subaru dealer would be able to supply the covers which you could then have resprayed. Wont be cheap though!

Steve,

I think he wants clear protectors though

As you can see, the Subaru OEM Fog covers do fit, but you need to turn them upsidedown

The PIAA lights should come wth white plastic protectors, and you can order them from PIAA anyway, about £10-20. I colour-coded mine ,at a cost of about £10 for paint and primer. Good protection, and looks good too, see for yourself....
