Question

This is for those who have aftermarket dual headlights on new shape WRX. STi is a different case as it comes with dual relectors from the factory...

How are the units wired, i.e. what lights you have on in the following situations:
1) Lights on, high beam (indicator stalk pushed forward)
2) Lights on, low beam (stalk middle position)
3) Lights on, high flash (stalk pulled towards steering wheel)
4) Lights off, high flash (stalk pulled)

I'm guessing that 1=high, 2=low, 3=high+low, 4=high.

What I want is that the low beam would stay on in situation 1) above. There are several threads on i-club that suggest how to do this with an extra relay and/or a diode but that will bring another problem: Will the standard wiring cope with the extra power required by burning 4 bulbs at the same time or is extra wiring necessary ?

I think I'm reading this correctly Jah! On my MY01 I have the Morette headlamps and HID conversion. If I have the dip beam HID's on and I switch on the full beam lights, the dips stay on.

I would have thought that was the case with normal bulbs aswell, although I can't say for sure. Your best bet would be to speak to a dealer, as they fit these all the time or an independent such as Scoobysport or Scoobymania who both sell the Morette headlamps and could probably advise on the wiring options.

Cheers
Chris

That would be the behavior I want as well. But all info I have sugegsts that with the standard wiring and relays the low beam (dips) are switched off when high beam (main/full ?) is used.

On i-club people say that you only need to ground the low beam bulbs differently to make this happen but I was wondering how much additional strain it puts to the wiring and if the standard wiring can cope.

It is of course possible to add a relay and run the low beam through that but if there is a simpler and more elegant way I would like to know.
