Question

I have decided that I need some serious lighting up front on my car.

Is it best to get some cibie driving lights up front or keep the foggies and get some better headlight units.

Hmm Cibie oscars look good at £200.

Was thinking the HID look better but are they really +£500 better...

What model car is it?

If you live in a rural area, and can use main beam a lot, drive lamps will be best.

If you drive on dip mostly, you will be better off upgrading the dip, to HID if the lamp will allow it - they DO work

Once a week I commute from work 170 mies of country roads at night. And would like to have some serious illumination.

The rest of the time I am just driving around town and the normal lights will suffice. I think I will go for the cibies. My only concern is that they seem to be fragile as there seem to be several posts in here regarding broken ones.

Edited to say car is MY98

I suppose you can get the clear plastic covers and hope they last...

I've given up on my Cibies, they continue to blow bulbs even after replacing relays and mounting them on rubber (to provide cushioning).

But, I've bought some Morrettes for the car and the results they give are almost as good as the Cibies No blown bulbs and dead easy to fit.

Cibies 0
Morrettes 1

(Also got a MY98)

I went for the Morettes too, (UK99) and find the main beam is superb

My driving is mixed rural and motorway so I needed something that wasnt going to upset oncoming traffic

I am (when Im allowed) going to go HID in the dipped beam of the Morettes

I've got Cibie Oscar SC's from scoobymania. Ive had them on a MY99 and my P1. Never had any problems and they are fantastic on a/b roads.
Cheaper than HID's as well.

cheers

Question

Further to my driving light question.
Are the Cibie oscars and the PIAA driving lamps of a similiar price and performance cibies seem to be £200 from scoobysport but I havent found PIAA driving lamps anywhere yet.

Anyone know where the best place is to but these..

Cool

I've just got back from France with my new set of HID's which I fitted just b4 going.
I've tried others, and already have Morrettes, but all I can say is: if you can run to HID's they are worth the extra IMHO
