05MY Legacy (UK) Airbag unit communication
Hi all.
I have an 05MY Legacy UK car. I recently broke the clockspring, of course it triggered the airbag lamp. On replacing it the lamp stayed on, normal behaviour believe, so I've bought several new toys to try and turn it off, but neither of them would talk to the airbag unit, despite being proposed they would.
On reviewing the wiring diagram it looks the communication line is direct from the OBD port to the SRS unit. I can see the violet and red wire on pin 10 of the obd port but it's missing from pin 12 at the unit end. Has anyone got an explanation for this?
Cheers

The 98221AG030 Air bag control module was used for MY04/05 changing to the 98221AG170 unit for MY06 onwards which came out around June 2005 for the UK.
Looking at various manuals your drawing looks as if it may be for the UK/European MY06
Below is the UK/European MY04 version ( no MY05 manual available) which doesn't use the Data Link connector (OBD port).
Just to muddy the waters abit the US MY05 seems to be a hybrid of the above versions

They could be tapped up, if not used before.

Thanks Don for the help as usual! With that info I did some more digging and managed to bottom out the procedure for reading and clearing codes, I detailed it here: http://www.uklegacy.com/forums/index.php?/topic/154973-04my-05my-airbag-srs-code-check-diagnostic-and-code-clear-prodecure/

For some reason your link doesn't work for me in Firefox 95.0.2
Good to see my "taped up" theory was correct for the missing items

Outdated browser maybe....?
It's a link to the how to section of UK legacy forum.
Oddly, the legacy service manuals show a different connector for diagnostic procedure, but the impreza 04my was right on the money.
