i have reconnected all the plugs to the controller.

I am using the clock harness and have the following wiring

Red to clock blue / red
Black to clock black
Orange to clock yellow

its a newage hawk and i didnt want to start just swapping wires around, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a circuit tester, or multimeter?

This is worth having: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Auto-Car-L...8AAOSwEeFVRoU3, or one very like. The croc clip goes to a decent earth, the probe, which is needle sharp, can pierce insulation to find live wires.

Now onto your question.

Make sure that your wiring is as follows:

RED: permanent live, ie: even when ignition off.
ORANGE: switched live, ie: live on SECOND CLICK of ignition, not first.
WHITE: live when lights are on.
BLACK: DECENT earth. Mine goes back to the battery.

Check those out and report back.

Hi Alcazar,

Thanks for getting back to me. i have purchased that tester as that could prove very useful any way.

I have moved the white wire on the controller to the yellow clock wire with the orange and now they light up perfectly on ignition and start up, which is how the old prosport gauges used to work.

I am trying to locate my meter to check the voltage on the clock purple wire.

Checked the purple wire and somethings not right as there is no voltage at all when switching the lights on, so for now the white is in with the orange so they illuminate when the car is on regardless of the lights, which is no big deal I guess.

I found a lighting wire under the steering wheel cowling in the loom coming from the light switch. With one of those testers it's a cinch to find one. Especially as the switch is on the stalk just above where you are probing.
