Default Key Fob

Hi guys,

I have a 1999 Subaru Impreza Sti Version 6. I have a key and a remote unlocking fob. I can't find a replacement for it. Where do I get them from and how can I reprogramme or replace it as it's a little temperamental. I have cleaned and replaced the battery on it.

I can't seem to find this type I need but I have seen one with the key built in and 2 button fobs. This one doesn't have the key attached and is only 1 button. Here is a crude picture below borrowed from fb:

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

I may be totally wrong, but I think your remote locking may be part of an aftermarket alarm system, as the classics (AFAIK) only came with central locking (from the drivers door only) and the remote function available on UK cars came courtesy of the sigma alarm installation.

My phone camera isn't working at the moment. I need to borrow a camera.

But my key fob says Subaru on it and looks OEM enough unless it's a 3rd party Japanese fob that looks OEM Subaru? I'll get a pic up when I can.

Cheers

Well, decided to look at the JDM database and it does look as if a remote fob is listed for the 99/00 cars.

Googling, they are not cheap

Hmm thanks for that.

Can I ask where can I get access to the database?

Default i had same fob

I had that fob on my 94 import, it is infra red and for the four years i owned it, it would only work very close to the glass at one of the front doors. the receiver is the dark bit near rear view mirror and may need a clean also.

"Keyless receiver" sits in between the map reading lights shown as item 3 here
