When I turn up my stereo my speakers kind of die a bit and go soft and crackled until I switch off and on again then the same will happen is that my stereo can't handle the speakers or my speakers can't handle the power

I'd suspect the speakers.

What car, model and year? Is it the standard setup?

The speakers are dire, the head unit in earlier cars, not much better.

You can get better, and bigger speakers for not too much ££, they do need a bit of ingenuity to fit, though, with spacers being the easy way.

Find somewhere with an interactive display, do a blind test and buy some speakers, start from there. You can go up to 165mm in the front (the stock ones are 130mm), with spacers, mine are 3-way coaxial.

Rears the same, or go 6 x 9.

 

Subaru Impreza uk turbo 2000 it's an old kenwood stereo and i havnt changed back speakers but the front are smallish edge from another scoob but seemed alright i wandered if the power for the speakers were to much for the stereo or other way around thanks for getting back to me

 

What you describe is sounding like poor speakers. swap the fronts out for 165mm ones with home made spacers**, then fade it front and see if it's any better.

** you can easily make them, I used 18mm mdf, shaped by using the old mounts and the template for the new ones, plus a jigsaw.
They then had 3 coats of paint and have been fine since....nearly 12 years now!

 

The symptoms also sound like it simply could be bad connections to either, or both, polarities of the speakers in question.

Or badly oxidised copper wire.

I experienced the latter to my home cinema speakers, so cut off the exposed oxidised copper, made good the connections again, and all was sorted.
