Default Help needed with key fob central locking

Hi

Just got back into an Impreza with a 2004 WRX estate.

The key fob does not always work to unlock and lock the car - first thing I did was replace battery but the fault still remains.

If the fob does not unlock the car I am able to unlock the old fashioned way with the key and the then press the button on the fob when the ignition is on.

The fob works 100% of the time to turn the immobiliser off when the ignition is on but rarely works to lock and unlock the car?? How come??

Any ideas on a fix for this? How can I get the fob to work 100% of the time for the central locking?

Thanks

You have ruled out one major thing and that is the key is coded to the ecu otherwise it wouldn't deactivate the immobiliser

You sure it might not be a problem with the central locking system itself?

The central locking works perfectly when simply using the key itself - always locks and unlocks.

9 time out of 10 when pressing the single keyfob button it simply does nothing.

Hi mate have you got the blue fob or the black one with one button on key?
I had the blue fob and what happens is the solder goes dry on the board and cracks thus not making a good contact with the battery. Just a blob of solder and all sorted.
If it's the keyfob on the key (not the separate blue one) then I wouldn't like to say.
Cheers
Kev
