Passenger window not going up ...?

Passenger window not going up ...?
Hi All,
I have a strange window problem at the minute,
The passenger front window of my 2000 reg UK turbo 2000 will only go down using the passenger switch and not up ...?
The drivers side switches doesn't control the window either ..?
To get the window to go up i had to run a lead of the battery and reverse the currant to the motor to get it go up ..
i have tried two more sets of switches but still no joy ...
So its just disconnected at the mo
any advice guys....?
