Thumbs down

It's that time of the year...Insurance time.. It's getting harder to get a quote never mind a cheap one.. Here's the results of 2 days phoning...

Priviledge.... Don't cover N. ireland
NFU... Have to be over 30years old
Quote direct... NO
Caulfield.... Third party only and a very high price
Denis light.. 3000 + and didn't even want to quote
Quinn direct.. Who I am with..Have to wait a few days before it's in there computer..

Anyone know any company that quotes for Jap imports (wrx)..
I don't want to go the usually route of traders/garage insurance..

Personally i'm with Quinn Direct and can't better their quote for the 4th year running.
£900 last year, a claim paid out for 5mth old MY00 (very fair price), £1200 this year.
Their customer service can take ages to get through to but are very helpful, not taking any more for minor mods such as exhaust, spoilers etc.

Cool

well david.
Hard luck with the insurance i see. I was just wondering what roughly are you paying for your insurance. I'm paying 3800 for a measly 1.5 almera with no mods at all, plus i'm only after passing my test and i'm 17. Try AXA insurance thats who i'm with. There reasonable enough for older drivers.

I haven't even a quote yet. Denis light said it would be over 3000 and didn't really want to quote. I phoned AXA and they don't quote any kind of import. I will try endsleigh and see if they quote imports.. I will know next week what quinn direct are going to quote it was 1300 last year for 27 years old full NCB and in the North.. Has anyone a Jap import on the board and who will even quote them??

As far as Im concerned no one will touch QUINN DIRECTS prices. I am 21 and Quinn quoted me a superb £2500 for an Evolution 6.

I even tried borrowing a mates address in England and getting quotes from all the top English companies. The majority of them were crap. The best quote was £2800.

Quinn also work their groupings in a strange way. Ie. they work it out on the number of claims made on a certain vehicle. So because there are more claims made on a Renault 5 Turbo than an Evolution 6, it would cost me more to get insured for a R5 Turbo than an Evo!! Bonkers or what?

I have heard rumours from friends down south that quinn direct are hard to get to pay up if you have an accident, but i stress that is only rumours. Does anyone have any experience of a claim with them?

They also messed up with the imported toyota starlet turbo. So when people rang up looking a quote for a startlet turbo quinn quoted them on a normal 1.3litre toyota starlet! It wasnt too long before every 17 year was hooning around Dublin in a 1.3 turbo! Of course the gardai soon reported this to the insurance companies and I now see hundreds of the little things for sale!

Bug eyed wonder: Quinn Direct have been excellent and Im really pleased to hear that they pay out with no hassle. That makes the perfect insurance company even better.

I started my policy in May 2001 when I was 21 ( now 22 ) so the 23 year old thing isnt exactly true. Although they did tell me I had to be over 25 to get insured for a Renault 5 GT Turbo?! Bizarre

My experience of Quinn direct has been limited to trying to get quotes from them two years running and to say I am unimpressed by their customer service on that front would be a MAJOR understatement, I personally would need to think long and hard before taking a policy from them.

Andy (just my opinion)

Unless you have a clean licence don't bother with Quinns as you have to fill out extra forms and you will eventually get an unrealistic quote . Did you try NFU as they beat everybody else by at least £50 ?
