I think it would be a good idea for people to post where they get super unleaded so if anyone is travelling around Ireland they know the nearest place to get it. It's getting very hard to find a petrol station that sells it..

Shell station Culmore road Derry.
Maxol station Burt donegal, 6 miles from the border on the main Derry to Letterkenny road

Orininally super u/l had a 98 octane rating but it was bruoght back to 95 , the same as normal u/l . So you are not gaining any power by using super . It would be better and probably cheaper using normal u/l with a cat friendly octane booster .

Super is 97 ron. I use it because my car was designed to use 100 ron (in Japan)and after hearing the problems with some cars I think it's a good idea. So does anyone know of any petrol stations that sell super unleaded??

Super unleaded is definately 97 RON. Reduced for 98 RON last year.

Well when I say definately I should say is supposed to be 97 RON. In tests 97 RON read as low as 93 and as high as 99 in some petrol stations. 95 read as low as 90 and as high as 97. So how do we really know what we are buying??

BTW your right to run on Super as much as possible David.

Paul.

As far as I know all Texaco garages in the south have SUL
Other than that very few (if any) garages in my area have a SUL pump

Paul interesting what you say about the actual ron of some petrol I never realised it varies so much. That could be the cause of a lot of engines blow ups. Actually I remember about 2years or so ago at the Ballina rally a few cars had blown engines and it was traced to the fact that they got the petrol at the same place and the super (which was 98 ron back then) wasn't super but normal unleaded. I never heard how it got settled compensation wise.
Also not all Texaco garages in the south have unleaded as the two nearest the border in Donegal don't. I must keep an eye to
see if any others have super.
