V6 oil pumps
When you say failing, what do you mean??
Did oil pressure drop?? have you a aguage?? Have your big end bearings failed??
There are many people who reccomend an uprated pump such as the type GGR or Roger Clarke sell. There is no definative prove that the uprated pump actually solves any issues with bearing failure though, as far as I am aware.
The only mod with the pump, is a different oil pressure relief plunger, otherwise its pretty much as the OE item.

As far as I know the pumps didnt really change throughout their life, from legacy, rite through to late STI's, although I may be wrong.
I am not sure why more of the later engines seem to die than early ones either. Either way, I dont particularly believe myself that the oil pump is to blame.
Even when my car **** the big ends, with 130k miles, oil pressure was good. I did have crap oil in it, and was flat out after a track day, but i still had oil pressure.
I have also seen an engine die with the GGR pump, after only 1000miles.
I dont believe that any of the uprated pumps is a total fix for big end failure, but it can do no harm to buy one when rebuilding.

No engine damage has occured as car is on its way,but have been told of a few which have had rebuilds due to problems with oil pumps.GGR recommend making the change as their pump cures this problem on V5/6's.Thanks for your reply stevie
