Europe 21st March 05
OK Guys, I have arranged this as a little treat for my 25th Birthday (10th March ) but after talking to Tiny, have decided to post it up here just incase any of you guys fancy coming along. It will be a good crack, and pretty cheap if you do fancy it.
Here's the details:
This is using Euro Tunnel (I dont do boats), I can get this for £98.00 All In!
I will then be travelling into Southern France, taking in some lovely roads and scenery. Then onto Italy, and finally Germany for a quick blast around the ring and then returning home. I will post actual detailed routes soon...
So all you need to pay is £98 to get over, fuel is very cheap, and accomadation will also be very affordable, with the best parking I can find.
I appreciate this is short notice, and it will be abit chilly in March. But if you fancy a really cool 5 days away with Fromage & Myself, it would be great to have you there.
Europe here we come!!!!

Here's my current route:

What do you reckon? I hope I don't hit any snow as I'm on summer tyres lol Whats the weather like there at the moment?
I'm hoping that route will take me on lots of 3-4 lane unresticted highway, but this is my first trip to Europe so not really sure.
All the best
Steve

Hi Steve, the route looks pretty good, if in switzerland you deviate more towards Zurich you could call on Swaussie in a town called ZUG/Baar he is an Aussie with an STi, then headup to the boarder near lake Konstanz and Singen then head up the A81 to Stuttgart, lake konstanz is mahooooooooooooosive and borders 3 countries. No snow in Germany as far as I know at the moment, not sure about Switzerland though. The A81 is unrestricted all the way from Singen to Herrenberg just short of Stuttgart, then there are unrestricted bits between Stuttgart and Frankfurt then on up to Koblenz but not sure which bits.
You can also take in Hockenheim race track on your way up to Koblenz that is about an hour away from me and on the way to your destination so no deviations.
Don't take a radar/speed detector to France with you and if you do have one clean the mounting spot off the windscreen so it doesn't appear that you have one. Watch your speed in France and Switzerland, Germany is not so much of a problem on the Autobahn as there are not many cop cars on them usually but beware in towns etc. If you do get stopped DO NOT speak German to the cops even if you can, you will probably get off with minor offences as it is to much trouble as they can't talk to you. Speed cameras here are front facing and are olive green so you can't usually see them, they flash red in your face which is most unnerving in the dark. If you do get flahed probably nothing will happen as you have Brit plates. try not to get caught in Belgium if you go there as teh fines are proportional to your salary, and they will trace you but still probably not do anything.
Cheers
Steve

Nevetas, if your in the Area there is plenty of spare room on the lounge room floor of my place for a few people to sleep on. I am about 25mins from Zürich and the same from Luzern and 2.5 hours from Wurzel. All the passes will still be closed in Swizterland at that time of the year which is a bit of a shame... If your keen you could take a day off and do a bit of Skiing, I am only 45 mins from one of the best ski area's in Switzerland.
The Autobahn from the Swiss border near Singen across to Stuttgart is one of the best I have found for a decent run in Germany. Not much traffic which really kills the "go as fast as you want" bits of the autobahn and its very good road. Not sure about snow and ice at that time of the year as it depends a lot on luck. We get plenty of snow here until at least April but you might be lucky and find it dry and above freezing.
Most of the speed camera's here in Switzerland are huge concrete jobs about three quarters the size of a fridge so they are not hard to see. They like to place them in little villages and Luzern and Zürich are notorous for them. Speeding in most tunnels is also a no-no as the Swiss have had some decent crashes in the tunnels and now like to control them pretty heavily. Guess its normal stuff really, dont speed in towns or dangerous areas and the rest is pretty open.

Cheers swaussie,
Might have to avoid Switzerland for this run, as I'm not really kitted out to deal with any snow on this occasion, but if you can PM me your contact details I'll give you a call when we're in Freiburg and you can let me know what the weathers like
Would be good to meet up
All the best.
