I'll be there with a bike, Elise and Impreza.
I tend to use E40 past Brugge, around Brussels and onto the E42 for Vervires / Malmedy. I know others may use a slighty different route, but this works well for me.
Thanks
Sonu

I've been 3 times now and found this way to be the quickest:
E40 from Calais, around Brussells ring road (try to avoid the rush hour), pick up the E31 (A61 in Germany) and then down E29 (A1) you'll see signs to the 'ring from there. Have fun.

I am sure John won't mind me editing out the no-longer-existent roundabout to avoid confusion.

am i better off filling up in france/belgium than in uk (say in dover before getting on the ferry)
reason i ask, is the fuel in france/belgium the same quality as optimax here (have an sti5 umapped, running optimax & NF) and can i take it its cheaper. if the fuel is optimax quality, what particular station/pump do i use (france/belgium)
IIRC its super bleifrei in germany isnt it

Shell Stations
Is there a shell station with v-power anywhere near the ring?
If so, where?
James
Hmmm looks like the nearest is:
Shell Select Station
ROSSBERG 91
53505 ALTENAHR
Thats 17miles from the ring......

There's a petrol station (it's not a shell) just oustside the ring that serves 98. You occasionally see formula race cars idle down the road to fill up - they have an arrangement with the the filth to drive from the ring to this petrol station! You can buy your tickets there and there heaps of model cars - if that's your thing?

James,
I took a drive up to Altenahr at the weekend just to see where it really is etc. and it's a good half hour each way. Besides the time, you'd use up a reasonable amount of fuel just getting there and back so I don't think it's worth it.
On the fuel quality question, when running my standard 02 STi in the UK on Optimax, DeltaDash reports the Advance Multiplier as a maximum 16. When running on EU 98RON fuel, this drops to 14/15 so I would say that Optimax is better than the general EU 98RON. Therefore, I'd add octane booster to the general 98RON fuel on the mainland if running a Scoob or Jap Turbo car. Obviously, V-Power would be but the nearest supply to the Ring is just too far....
