There is a friend of me who will give driving courses @ the Nurburgring with Alfa 75.
Don't start laughing about this, he's driving like hell with this cars, they are completely modified and you pay for a 1-day course with track time and fuel...About 400 Euro's

change of plan, think we'll hire something in koblenz when we get there... that way at least we'll know what we're getting.

(can't really stretch to that merc)

I think you'll find Avis in Koblenz has only Opels, if so the cars they have don't handle that well, try Hertz in Koblenz and hire a Focus instead.
It'll do BtoG in 9 1/2 minutes and run allday without buggering the tyres or brakes and is good on fuel or a Puma, both are £45ish for 2days.
Don't use the Aircon on the Puma going uphill (it slows down noticeably) but kills bikes on braking and through corners. Big (heavy) hire cars wear the tyres out quickly, so if you drive like a **** you'll get charged £600 for a set of tyres.

Get a Focus so we can have races!

Have Fun.

those cars would be ideal, although i'd prefer the 2.0 focus or a puma, how can i specifically ask for a focus or puma? do you know what class they come under? i'd hate to book thinking i'm getting a focus/puma and end up with a lardy slow understeering golf!

You can request a specific car but they can only supply what they've got left so there is no guarantee, best thing to do is just turn up on the day to pick and choose.
The Puma's are 1.4 and Focus's 1.6 which I think are Class C.

Std Golfs are pretty poo around the ring, the best handling hire car is the puma / focus but only do 85MPH up the hill in 3rd, feels like going backwards. A 2ltr C class merc will only go 25 seconds quicker but won't have any rubber left!
