When is everyone going to the ring this year?

I have enough cash to sort the cossie (new turbo, clutch, fusebox, oil change, diff oil change, dot5.1 fluid and air freshners) and go to the ring ONCE this year. Ideally with the most people from here. When is everyone going so I know when to book?

I live in Cologne at the moment (1 hour from ring) and will come down over the Easter weekend some time. Last year I visited the Ring at least 20 times and have now done a total of nearly 180 laps (at great expense!). Anyone coming over at other times can email me at jpidding@ford.com and we can meet up. I also have stocks of spare brake pads, wheels, fluids, tools etc which I can lend to anyone stranded on the continent.

Docjock, hope you had a good (incident free) weekend at the Ring. I was back in the UK Fri/Sat/Sun, so sorry I missed you!
Tony, will be glad to guide you around the circuit. If you can, go onto the net and download a video lap and watch it a good few times before you come....that will help a little to give you a clue as to what's coming next!

James (not Harvey) I assume you have a jahreskart? If not, get one! I worked out the break even point is about 65 laps, so working on the basis that I do 20-25 laps per day when there I bought one. Managed to squeeze in 352 laps last year
Mr Harvey, you still got the quiet black one?
Oooh, 2 weeks time I shall be there

TaviaRS,
Hat off to you mate....300 or so laps in a year is going some! I can't imagine doing 25 laps a day like you said....most I've ever done is 10, but then I live an hour away from the Ring in Cologne, so there isn't the urgency to pack em in.
Last year I bought a year card and did about 130 laps. I recon that each lap costs minumum £30 when you take into account fuel, brake discs & pads, tyres and yearcard cost. This year the year card has gone up to €700 and I really can't justify the expense of it. Also, I was getting reasonably fast....BTG comfortably 8:45 - 8:50, with the odd flying lap between 8:30 - 8:35......and to be quite honest I had a few "moments" getting the car into a drift at about 120mph. My thoughts are that if I do the same this year I will be pushing my luck. I went to the Ring 2 weeks ago and just reminded myself of just how frightening it can be! Call me a girl, or say that I'm getting too old, but my plan is to just do a few trips, with about 3 or 4 laps each time.
Would definitely be fun to meet up though. What sort of times were you doing last year? What spec of car were you running?

I'm running a slow black Skoda.
Comfortable @ 9 BTG, best to date, 8:42. I don't want to push it any further than that, I need the car for work so 7/10ths is quite acceptable to me. Managed 6 trips last year, this year I'm only going to do 2 or 3.
The odds are starting to go against me, its only a matter of time before I do something stupid. I'd heard that the prices had gone up, just need to work out whether its worth getting a card this year. Being a reasonable distance away, it makes each trip a planned thing rather than a spur of the moment thing, so I have to work out if its worthwhile.
Still looking forward to the 17th. If you're around that w/e come and say hello, you can't miss mine, its a black Octavia with a scoobynet sticker on the back, a few smileys and a 1.4 16V badge on the back

Tony,
Bad news on that weekend.....I'm in the UK for a friends 30th birthday.....damn shame would have been cool to see a fleet of 10 Scoobs at the Ring. Keep in touch and let me know of any further planned visits.
By the way, anyone who's also into mountain biking should think about doing the route around the Ring (some Ring maps show the route marked in red, but strangely a later map doesn't show it). It takes about 3 hours for riders with reasonable fitness. It's better to take longer and pause at the various vantage points to watch the cars. Be warned though....there are some pretty steep hills....get your brakes serviced and wear helmet & knee/elbow pads! (I have a scar on my knee from my first time....spent 50 quid on safety gear shortly after!)

I was there a couple of weeks ago, fantastic weather and empty track, the prices for cars have risen dramatically on last years. here is the info
Single lap approx £9
5-lap one-day ticket Approx £38
6-lap ticket Approx £ 51
12-lap ticket Approx £99
60 laps Breakeven point for a car Jahreskarte
Jahreskarte: Full year £500 Unlimited use.
Actual prices will vary acording to exchange rate. Assuming around €1.4 to the pound.
