Hi I am not sure what switch is "missing" but it sits in front of the headlight height adjuster and has a red wire with a black tracer running to it and a black wire, and has just been cut off anyone any idea's ?

Sounds like the notorious "Bright" switch.

 

sorry , its a 97 four door impreza, the bright switch is on the dash under the clock, and the "missing" one is just in front of the coin holders next to the handbrake its a rhd vehicle

Mirror adjuster? If so, it has more than two wires......
