Dash flocking
Gents I'm contemplating getting the dash flocked however, am pretty wary of the idea of removing the dash. How much of a job is it to do and how difficult is it as I don't want to be left with a bunch of parts and no idea of where to put them!

I change my newage dash for a flocked one about 6 months ago and it took me four hours to complete. It's not that hard of a job your just have to know where all the bolts are, for me the hardest part was removing the strip up against the windscreen.
Have you got a classic or newage?

That what mine is.
From what I remember you need to disconnect the battery and leave for 30mins so as the airbag isn't in any danger of going off.
Next remove the glove box, the centre console, radio facia, centre vents, the housing for the radio and the section under the steering wheel (basically the whole of the lower dash).
Iirc there is a bolt at either end of the dash and a couple in the middle at the bottom remove these. The passenger air bag needs to come out and is held in by three or four bolts.
Disconnect the dash clock, remove the speedo surround and the speedo pod (a few screws and three multi connectors). The panel at the back if the screen pops out with a bit of persuasion and hides the final three bolts. Once they are out the dash should come out.
With the dash out you can now swap all the vent pipe work over to your new dash and fit in the reverse of how it came it.
It sounds worse than it is, as said it took me 4hrs from start to finish and its the only one I've ever done.

Thanks Martin, very helpful. I'm in two minds whether to give it a shot. I just don't want a bunch of leads / connections with no idea where to connect the damn things
Fleet - I'll pm and see what he says, thx.
Are there any others that do a good flocking service that can be recommended?
