I need to take my drivers door card inn, a 2005 wrx, do the clips normally break and is it just the 2 screws one in the door handle and one in the door pull

 

Two screws. But you also need to prize out the switches and door handle surrounds.
The clips don't break if you get up close to them: slide a large screwdriver under the door card, move it along until you find a clip and lever up. Start at the front about half way down.
