Default Outdoor Temp Sensor...

I have a 2000 Classic and was looking to get a Outdoor Temperature Gauge as I've always been used to having one in my previous car.

Anyone know the best way out or what type I can look at getting?

kangli electronics thermometer

or here: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=34932, but that one requires batteries. Could modify it to use the car's electrics, I suppose.

Still deciding on what one and where to mount it.
Ive heard of some that look like Boooost gauges that can fit directly into the gauge pod..

My pre-facelift WRX has two DIN spaces in the centre console. I've mounted a Halfords temp sensor & clock behind a bit of brass plate.
Not 100% ideal, because I need to take the console out to adjust the clock - but it looks pretty good!

Does the Halfords one show outside temp, or inside? Yours seems to be reading high......
also, is it backlit and does it go off the car's electrics?

The gauge shows inside and outside temp - one of the green circles is a slide switch to flick between the two. In the picture it was showing inside temp last summer - hence near 30! The internal reading does tend to show the temp in the console area, so not exactly 'cabin' temp (typically shows a few degrees higher than the 'real' temp), but it does show what the climate control is seeing.

There is a single AAA battery to power the LCD, and it is back lit using the car's light circuit, so only comes on with the car's lights.

As I say, it's not an ideal set up, but since my car didn't come with a clock as standard, it's better than nothing!

I don't think Halfords sell this particular clock any more, but I'm sure something similar could be converted.....

found one I'm gonna get

Available in Red/Blue LED's and internal +/ external temperature monitoring (c and f monitoring). I may also be able to get a very good deal from the supplier, as I've used them before - keep ya posted. Was thinking about ordering 2 extra if anyone wants one

Bad news no extra discount is being offered Also the order may get picked up for customs duty

Initially I recon they'll work out at approx £20 delivered for each unit (single probe version - but with internal and external temp monitoring) The two probe version is another £5.

Please confirm interested
1. darms - confirmed
2. magneel1 -
3. Scoobyn -
4. alcazar - confirmed
5. super_ted -
