Default suede dash - anyone ever tried it?

Something I've been thinking about having done, but there is very little info to be found. The only suede dashes I've seen are factory ones like in lotus' and massers. A couple of big american custom builds too..

Any ideas / leads , who do you think would be able to trim a dashboard in suede??

Chris.

just get in contact with car trimmers and see what they say.

people such as D:Class, Carisma etc etc.

But i dont expect it will be cheap!

(thats removing the dash myself and sending it)

very nice ricey, thanks for posting that.

alcantara probably better to use than suede. looks good.

something like this I was thinking, where the gauge pod is all stitched in neatly.

yeah, it does seem to divide opinion somewhat

nice pics too asimo,

the quote I got was for dash only, i'd only do the actual dash, looks much better than flocking (imo). a grey with yellow stitch for my scoob i reckon.. mmm.

thats just lifted off the net mate, found it when doing research..

I would guess that prolly best part of 3k for complete trim. I wouldn't go that far though: pillars, door cards, roof etc, even if I did have more money that smarts.

yeah I still prefer it over flocking, kinda looks more like factory standard of a high end road car, instead of the rally car look.. and since i'm going for road car mods think it would look suitable.

i love the gauges being stitched in like that - though they'd have to stay that way after its done i'm assuming!

(i'm the original poster btw, just reregistered under this name now)

The Ferrari Dino 246 1970's, which has a large dash/consul, was covered in suede. I think that most have been garaged as they don't show signs of fading. However I have seen several that have bloomed.

The Alacantra looks far nicer than nylon flock but that's only my opinion.

Do you really need to static charge the parts?

To trim just the dashboard in Alcantara is aprox £1000.00.

No I haven't, yet! Its SO much hassle the thought of taking my dash out, that I'd only do it if the company would do that too. Which would probably mean a trip to london.

I will someday no plans to sell the car at all so should happen eventually.

Sounds nice with the carbon bits, any pictures of that?

Cheers,
Chris.
