Door locks

Due to the current car crime situation I am intending disconnecting my door locks from the key barrel.
As I have a remote alarm and if the battery dies I can use the boot lock..(5door)
Am I right to assume they use the usual coat hanger style poles that I can just unhook?
I would love to have some scum try for ages to get in to find that his screw driver only turned the barrel around and around.
Not a huge amount of security gain but hoping shouldn't take long to do the job etc..
