Fitting MY97 dash into MY94

Has anybody fitted a 97 dash into a my94 scooby as I have the old dash, but want to fit a center gauge holder..

Can this be done.. Or am I better just saving for a newer model

I have an MY97WRX and I sure its the same dash as the older MY94WRX that I used to have.
