Stupid question:

What is alcantara made of?

I reckon its special leather/suede, but my brother reckons its a special material.

My Rb5 has it and it wears much better than the rest of the seat material.

do u tend to slide around less when going around corners when compared to Leather? cos as is synthetic suede, it will stick to ur clothing.

The main benifit of it being a synthetic material is that it does come in the shape of a cow when you order it, I used to be in the trade and you wouldn't beleive how difficult it is to work around the stretchy bits!

yep, much better than leather for grip. have had leather seats before, when breaking hard you can slide forward a bit . you end up constantly shuffling back in the seat.
have had alcantara in my last two cars, and its spot on. if i get another retrim, it'll be leather and alcantara, not leather alone.

and yes, alcantara is synthetic, and harder wearing than genuine suede.

Saw an Alcantara sofa in Heals in London once. It was more than some of their leather ones though!
